Lake Bluff Resident Seeks District 13 Seat on Lake County Board

Has served on Park District board for past six years.

 

resident Sandy Hart will run in the 2012 primary election for the Lake County Board District 13 seat being vacated by Susan Loving Gravenhorst.

“After our schools, Lake County is the largest taxing body for our residents,” Hart said. “It is critical that we constantly evaluate the budget for opportunities to further alleviate the tax burden. At the same time, Lake County residents recognize the value of open spaces and environmental stewardship. I am committed to continuing and extending the District’s work in conserving open space.”

Hart was elected to the Lake Bluff Park District Board and has served for the past six years. She is currently the vice-president of the Park District, former chair of the successful referendum effort for the building of the LEED-certified , a PTO volunteer, and the site coordinator for a local, organic co-op of family farmers.

She is a member of the Women’s Board and of the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff League of Women Voters.

Hart has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University School of Business and an master's in Marketing and Organizational Development from DePaul University.  She worked at Kraft Foods for 13 years before leaving full-time employment to raise her family.

Hart believes that the budget is the most important policy document of any governmental body, and she believes she has the skills and experience necessary to evaluate and monitor County operations on behalf of District 13 residents.

As a member of the Lake Bluff Park Board, Hart said, “I am most proud of our commitment to transparency and accountability, our development of a strategic plan and vision, and the creation of resident task forces for the beach, pool, and capital plan.” 

Sandy and her husband Tom, a Lake Bluff native, have been married for 13 years and have three children. “I am excited about the opportunity to put my expertise and experience to work on behalf of the residents of District 13,” Hart said.
