Council OKs Pedestrian Underpass At West Train Station
Approval of purchase of Dalitsch Pond pedestrian bridge also is given.
In other action at Monday night's Lake Forest City Council meeting, council members unanimously approved the acquisition of a pedestrian bridge at the Dalitsch Pond and heard a report on the pedestrian underpass at the .
Both projects will be completed with outside funding.
The Conway Park Owners Association has given $30,000 to the city to acquire the bridge to be located on Dalitsch Pond north of the Municipal Services Building.

The pedestrian underpass at the West Train Station will be built with potential grants of $1 million from the federal government, $1.266 million from the Illinois Department of Transportation and $600,000 from Lake Forest’s Tax Increment Financing fund, which expires at the end of the year.
The city has received help from with the plan. Cowhey expressed the hope it can add an Amtrak stop in Lake Forest. He sees economic benefits to Lake Forest and the surrounding area from a connection to the high-speed Chicago-to-Milwaukee train.
