Lake Forest High School Seniors-to-be Can Apply for Library, Parks and Rec Boards

Applications due March 9.

Lake Forest High School students who live in Lake Forest and will be seniors next fall can apply to serve on the city's Library or Parks and Recreation Boards.

Students will be appointed by the Mayor in May and will work alongside other community adult volunteers.

Students should complete a Volunteer Profile Sheet, which may be obtained on the City’s website, www.cityoflakeforest.com, in the scrolling section to the left, or at City Hall, 220 E. Deerpath.

To accompany the Profile Sheet, students are required to submit a one-page essay explaining why they would like to serve and what benefits they and the City will derive from the experience.  A letter of reference should also be provided. Applications are due at City Hall on March 9.

The Library Board is responsible for determining operating policies, which are implemented and administered by the Librarian. The Library Board meets the second Tuesday of the month, 7:30 p.m., at the Library.

The Parks and Recreation Board serves as an advisory body on development and operation of recreational programs, the Recreation Center, the Deerpath Golf course, Forest Park Beach, and all other City-owned parks and recreational facilities. The Board meets the second Tuesday of the month, 6:30 p.m., at City Hall, and the meetings are televised.
