Lake Forest, Lake Bluff Hope to Make Bike Trail Part of U.S. System

The Robert McClory Bike Path could join the growing roster of U.S. Bike Routes across the country.

The Lake Forest City Council and Lake Bluff Village Board have both given their approval to the idea that the Robert McClory Bike Path would become part of a growing network of nearly 6,000 miles of bike routes across the country, according to an article in the Lake Forester.

The U.S. Bicycle Route System already has routes connecting urban, suburban and rural areas in 12 states, according to Adventure Cycling, a nonprofit working on the project.

The two municipalities had to give their support to the idea in order for IDOT to submit it to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the Lake Forester article says. Their support does not commit the communities financially to the project but puts them in a better position to receive grant funding.
