Lake Forest to Hold Community Forum Next Thursday

Residents are invited to attend Community Forums hosted by The City of Lake Forest.

Residents are invited to attend Community Forums hosted by The City of Lake Forest.  The Forums take place monthly at Gorton Community Center on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m.

The Community Forums are designed to give residents an informal opportunity to:

  • Get involved in complex community issues
  • Stimulate intellect, curiosity and civil debate
  • Gather a greater awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing Lake Forest

Discussion will be led by an Alderman on a topic identified in the recently-adopted Strategic Plan for 2013-2018.

On Thursday, June 20, Kent Novit, First Ward Alderman, will lead a conversation about the future of “Refuse Collection and Recycling.”

  • How much to you recycle?  Do you have a small or large recycling cart?
  • Do you compost?
  • Have you noticed a drop in your refuse and garbage?
  • Have you noticed an increase in the contents of your recycling cart?
  • Are you aware of what is available to you at the City’s Compost/Recycling Center on Rte. 60?
  • What additional conversations or resources are desired?

Each month, a new topic will be thoroughly explored.  These meetings will not be televised, and no decisions will be made.  The purpose is to collectively develop an enhanced clarity of each issue, its intricacies, and a consensus on how to proceed.
