League of Women Voters Slate Issue Meeting

Set agenda Monday for coming year.

Member of the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff League of Women Voters will discuss what issues the organization will address next year at 3 p.m. Monday (Feb. 14).

As a grassroots organization, members determine how the League can best serve the communities. This includes not only the well-known activities of voter registration and candidate forums, but also educational programs and advocacy.

This year, one of the advocacy issues was Affordable Housing, and members often addressed the Lake Forest City Council and aldermen. The League also was concerned about the Illinois fiscal crisis and held a public program with guest speaker John Bouman, from the Responsible Budget Coalition, along with State Senators Susan Garrett and Terry Link. Next month, there will be a public program about Cuba with Dr. Alberto Coll speaking.
