On Thursday, May 16, Mike Adelman, Fourth Ward Alderman, and a panel of experts will lead a conversation about “Native Plantings.”  In recent years there has been a heightened awareness over the importance and benefits of creating ecologically-friendly yards, gardens and public spaces.  Communities are experiencing increasing impacts on natural habitats from development.  Recent weather patterns support the need to better educate residents on the growing importance of water conservation.  Economic times require homeowners, organizations and government to look at alternatives that will provide long-term, multiple benefits within our landscape options.  In addition, the forum will explore:

  • What are native plantings?
  • What opportunities or challenges does this topic present for homeowners and the community?
  • What additional conversations or resources are desired?

Each month, a new topic will be thoroughly explored.  These meetings will not be televised, and no decisions will be made.  The purpose is to collectively develop an enhanced clarity of each issue, its intricacies, and a consensus on how to proceed.

Interested participants do not need to make reservations.
