Resurfacing Project Will Impact 14 Lake Bluff Streets

Street repairs affecting 14 Lake Bluff streets will begin this month after determined that there are sufficient financial resources available to support a comprehensive street improvement project.

Funds received from the state’s Motor Fuel Tax program and the village’s general funds will pay for the resurfacing, which is projected to cost $475,000, said Brandon Stanick, assistant to the village administrator.

The quantity of funds readily available directly impacts the number of streets that can be repaired.

The basis for selection of a street for resurfacing coincides with actions taken the prior year, according to Village Engineer George Russell.

"Streets that are selected for repair one year is based upon a review of Village street conditions taken in the fall of the prior year in preparation for budgeting and eventual resurfacing," he said.

While the resurfacing will cause some temporary delays, the end result will improve the overall condition of the roadway surface by eliminating dangerous potholes and pesky street cracks. 

"Street surfaces deteriorate with time due to traffic loading and weathering effects primarily caused by frost/thaw cycles," Russell said.

The streets impacted include:

• East Center Avenue - from Moffett Road to Sunrise Avenue.

• Moffett Road - from East Center Avenue to East Center Avenue

• East Washington Avenue - from Oak Avenue and Moffett Road

• Rockland AvenueW - from Sheridan PlaceW to Center Avenue

• Briar LaneE - from Sheridan Place to Southern Terminus

• Signe Court - from Green Bay Road to West Terminus

• Maple Avenue - from East Center Avenue to East Prospect Avenue

• Simpson Avenue - from East Center Avenue to East Prospect Avenue

• East Prospect Avenue - from Maple Avenue to Sunrise Avenue

• Indian Road - from East Sheridan Road to West Terminus

• Carlyle Circle - from Armour Drive to Armour Drive

• Bluff Road - from East Blodgett to South Terminus

• Ravine Forest Drive - from Sheridan Road to Oak Terrace

• West Sheridan Place - from Lincoln Avenue to Mawman Avenue
