Sunrise Beach, Forest Park Beach Closed For Swimming Today

Riptide alert for both make it unsafe to swim. High bacteria count noted for Sunrise.

 

Sunrise Beach has been closed for swimming today (June 25) due to a combination of a riptide alert and an anticipated high bacteria count by the Lake County Health Department, according to Dave Peterson, director of Facilities and Recreation Services for the .

The Lake Bluff Park District staff tested waters and determined it to be unsafe for swimming. A red flag is displayed at the top of the bluff. A riptide alert has been posted through the early evening hours.

Lake Forest's also is closed due to the riptide alert, according to the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation hotline and the Lake County Health Department website.

The Lake County Health Department notified the Park District this morning to close the beach for swimming because of anticipated high bacteria counts. They will notify the Park District Tuesday on whether it can be reopened for swimming.

However, guests may visit the shelters and play on the beach.
