Lake Forest Approves Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Master Plan Phase II

Lake Forest’s City Council approved Phase II of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart’s master plan by a unanimous vote of 7-0 Sept. 3. This action will permit Woodlands to move forward with its development plans for the property.

“Over the next several weeks, you will notice increased activity as materials from the interior of the Old Main building continue to be harvested for re-use elsewhere, and as cellular telephone carriers continue to install and test their antennas on the newly constructed cell tower at the very rear of our campus,” said Head of School Gerald Grossman.

Once that work is complete, demolition of Old Main will begin along with the balance of the work under Phase II of the Master Plan. Woodlands Academy will expand its campus with the additional 23 acres to:

· Create new athletic fields, reconfigured driveways, and additional parking while preserving the natural environment of the ravines and trees.

· Develop a walking path to make Woodlands Academy an accessible and attractive place for the larger local community to enjoy.

· Develop opportunities to use the Cooney Center for events and educational programs within and beyond the Woodlands Academy community.

“In the end, depending on how fast the grass grows, we anticipate playing field hockey on our new field a year from now or, at the latest, playing soccer and softball on our new fields in the spring of 2015,” Grossman added.
