Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Commissions, Blesses iPads

As part of its ongoing commitment to incorporate technology into the classroom, Woodlands Academy for the first time is requiring each student to have an iPad this school year.

The school held a special commissioning and blessing of the iPads Sept. 4, one week after school started, in its Chapel of the Sacred Heart.  Administrators and student leaders reflected on Sacred Heart women for their vision, courage and integrity, and asked students to embrace the newer technology and commit themselves to wisely use their iPads as a force for good.

Woodlands Academy Council of Representatives President Caroline Hiteshew said, “God blessed each of us with fine minds and multiple gifts. Instill in us a love of learning and a desire to study, to pursue creative endeavors, and to do significant research in science, mathematics and in the humanities.  May we advance society through our efforts.”

Another student, Senior Class President Annie Kotlarz, added, “God placed us here together, students and teachers, in this sacred place.  Help us to work collaboratively with our new iPads.  Because of this technology, students and teachers alike are able to explore the beauty and the benefits of thousands of years of civilization.  May we use this invention which allows us to access so much instantly, with enthusiasm and wisdom.”

Head of School Gerald Grossman led the ending prayer of blessing, and the students sang a closing hymn, “Go Make a Difference”.
