All-School Reunion Planned for June 11

Kindergarten students engage in interactive tasks.

St. Mary's kindergartners recently visited “Kindertown”, an interactive museum experience in Lake Forest, to culminate a social studies unit on communities.  The students “traveled” to replicas of five different locations in the community: Lake Forest Pediatrics, Gerhard’s Bakery, Sunset Foods, the U.S. Post Office, and the Lake Forest Fire Station. Students were engrossed in shopping for and purchasing groceries, mailing letters to their homes,  getting a check-up at the doctor’s office, making a sweet treat while wearing a chef’s hat, and using a floor map to navigate cars throughout Lake Forest.

This February, School of St. Mary students and families donated more than 500 books and school supplies to the Holy Family Food Pantry in Waukegan. The collection was organized by the seventh grade as a service project in the spirit of Valentine's Day.  Holy Family will use the books and school supplies in their reading program for children who visit the pantry, the MOMS group and as a part of their summer Children's Lunch and Activity Program.
