Children's Book Author to Speak in Lake Forest

A keynote address by author, filmmaker, and long-time NPR contributor, Amy Krouse Rosenthal will be delivered at the 2013 Annual Meeting of District 67.

The District 67 Kindergarten Parent Information Night for incoming Kindergarten students has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 7th. Meetings will be held at each elementary school from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Parents are invited to attend a brief presentation by the kindergarten staff followed by a visit to our classrooms.

Registration materials are currently being accepted at school offices (8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.), or you can bring the materials with you on March 7th. If you would like your child to be considered for the full-day programs (Full-Day or Full-Day Mandarin Immersion) you need to turn in your registration materials by 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21st.

The 2013 Annual Meeting of District 67 APT will be held from 9:00am-11:00a.m. on March 13, 2013 at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois.  

The Annual Meeting is open to the entire community and features a keynote address by author, filmmaker, and long-time NPR contributor, Amy Krouse Rosenthal.  According to the New York Times, Amy's award-winning children's books "radiate fun the way tulips radiate spring: they are elegant and spirit-lifting."  Her children's books include Little Pea, Wumbers, Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons, and Plant a Kiss. Her adult work, Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, was named one of the top 10 memoirs of the decade by Amazon.  A selection of her books, including the highly anticipated Exclamation Mark will be available for purchase. 

Admission to the Annual Meeting is complimentary and all members of the public are welcome to attend.  The schedule of events also includes the introduction and election of the candidates for 2013-2015 Executive Board: APT Executive Board President; APT Executive Board Treasurer; APT Executive Board Communications Secretary; APT President, Deer Path Middle School; and APT President, Everett School.
