Deer Path Middle School Students Unite to Support Benny's World

Students, staff participate in walk fund-raiser.

Deer Path Middle School's student body and faculty will come together to walk in support of Benny's World at 2:45 p.m. Friday (May 20) at the school,

Benny's World is a non-profit foundation established to fund research to find a cure for pediatric brain stem tumors, specifically targeting Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This organization was selected after a presentation by a group of fifth and sixth graders. In addition to the walk, Lisa Watters, Benny's mother, will speak with students at DPM's Band/Orchestra/Chorus concerts/assemblies at 9:45 and 10:15 a.m. Friday (May 20).

Students will receive a Benny's World bracelet Friday morning to wear during the day and are encouraged to wear grey or yellow/gold. Grey is the color to raise awareness for brain tumors (grey matter) and gold is the color for childhood cancer (our children are more precious than gold). In addition to the bracelets, students will participate in a Partner Advisory activity; fifth grade students partnered with seventh grade students, and sixth grade students with eighth grade students, prior to the walk itself.  The partner activity will continue as the students walk their first lap together in unity.
