Diamond Anniversary Campaign Hits $2 Million Mark
Make push to reach goal to build athletic complex at LFHS East Campus.
The Diamond Anniversary Campaign to fund a new multi-purpose outdoor sports complex at Lake Forest High School’s Lindenmeyer Field has received pledged commitments of more than $2 million, according to a release from the Lake Forest High School Boosters.
Support has come from individuals, families, Lake Forest School District 115, local businesses, and the City of Lake Forest

The $2 million mark keeps the Diamond Anniversary Campaign on schedule, with an expectation to reach the campaign’s $2.5 million goal and have the new sports complex completed in time for the 2012-13 school year.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of this community, the Diamond Anniversary Campaign has reached yet another important milestone.” said Brian Vandenberg, co-chair of the campaign. “We are now in home stretch and in sight of the finish line. Our vision is becoming reality.”

To ensure that the project proceeds as scheduled, the Campaign’s immediate priority is to raise $500,000 in March. On April 1, the Campaign Executive Committee will vote on whether to proceed with the project as planned or alter the scope or timeline.
The proposed new facility includes two state-of-the-art synthetic turf fields and a new track and field facility, for use by LFHS teams, wellness classes, intramurals and the entire community, as well as new bleacher systems and a new press box. The new sports complex will be the primary venue for certain LFHS sports – including boys and girls track and field, girls’ lacrosse and field hockey – and will supplement the athletic fields at LFHS’s west campus for other sports.
“I expect that we’ll reach our goal,” said Ellen Funk, President of the LFHS Boosters and Co-Chair of the campaign. “We still need to raise additional funds, but this is a remarkable community that will come together to make it happen. We have great momentum.”
