District 67 Collects 20,000 Books for Bernie's Book Bank

Deer Path Middle School Star Awards for February.

More than 20,000 books have been donated by students during the District 67 APT Book Drive. The books have already been distributed throughout the Chicagoland area to kids in need by . Lake Forest elementary and middle school students, with the support of their teachers, more than doubled their goal. According to Brian Floriani, Founder and Director of Bernie's Book Bank, this was also the largest district-wide book drive in the organization's history. The third grade classes in each school stepped up and oversaw the official count of the books in each classroom. At the middle school, the Student Service Club took a leadership role in getting kids motivated to participate and donate their books. At each school, the biggest motivation was the competition to be the class with the most books collected at the end of the two weeks. The prize for the winning class in each school was a pizza party. (The pizza was paid for my Bernie's Book Bank and the drinks and cookies were donated by Sunset Foods.)
