District 67 Releases New Community Newsletter

Lake Forest School District 67's community newsletter is available online. Also, spring break begins next Friday.

The information below comes from Lake Forest School District 67.

Spring Break begins at the close of the school day on Friday, March 22. School will resume Monday, April 1.

District 67 has just released their new community newsletter - Insight. This publication was mailed to all Lake Forest residents. You may also download and read the Winter 2013 edition from the District 67 website:www.lf67.org.

Beginning this year, and over the next three years, significant changes will be taking place related to the Illinois State assessments to align with the new Common Core Standards adopted by Illinois and throughout the U.S.

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has determined that the current expectations for students in grades 3 - 8 are too low and do not give an accurate picture of a student’s ability to succeed in college and the workforce. Therefore, ISBE is raising the bar on the ISAT performance expectations in Math and Language Arts for elementary and middle school students to bring them in to line with the Common Core Standards.

Parents can read more about these changes and how they will impact District 67 on our website (www.lf67.org), along with a Frequently Asked Questions for Parents document provided by the Illinois State Board of Education.
