"America's Long Journey with the International Criminal Court”

Join Lake Forest College for an Ethics Center Lecture with U.S. Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Issues, David J. Scheffer, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel.

Scheffer will speak about his role in the negotiations establishing the International Criminal Court.

Scheffer’s new book All the Missing Souls: A Personal History of the War Crimes Tribunals will be released in December. He will be available to comment on the topic and sign copies at the event.

Scheffer is currently the Mayer Brown and Robert A. Helman professor of law and director of the center for International Human Rights at Northwestern University School of Law. He helped lead the United States efforts in the establishment of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, the International Criminal Court, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the Extraordinary Chambers in Cambodia, and the special courts in Kosovo and East Timor.

This event is part of the Ethics Center Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the Ethics Center and Department of Politics and International Relations.
