Career Resource Center is pleased to partner with DBR Chamber in bringing our popular resume program to chamber members, their guests, and local residents.  

    What worked in a job hunt several years ago won’t cut it today.  The entire style of a resume has changed and employers screen applicants with automated computer programs.  Resumes are strictly an advertising/sales piece - a way to promote yourself to prospective employers.

     Getting noticed in today’s competitive job market requires a targeted resume that markets your talents and achievements.  While a resume will not get you a job, a well crafted one that articulates your accomplishments and capabilities can make an impact in setting you apart from the competition. 

     Melissa will offer you a framework for unearthing your unique talents and accomplishments.  Then she will focus on the content and formats that employers are looking for in today’s environment.  You will walk away with the tools to develop a targeted resume.

Join us to learn what employers expect and how resumes are viewed in today’s competitive market.  Mini reviews (10 minutes) will be available for those who register and only cover appearance, and methods for demonstrating your accomplishments. 

      Melissa Jensen gained years of cross-functional management experience at Grainger, ultimately holding the position of Director, Employee Development.  She can talk comfortably with candidates from diverse industries and disciplines.  Melissa graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a BA in Industrial Psychology and obtained her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.  Melissa is also a Master Gardener and runs a real estate business with her husband.
