Founded in 1986, the Grammy-nominated Chicago Chamber Musicians enjoys an outstanding reputation for artistic excellence and strong commitment to community service. One of the "indispensables of classical music in Chicago" (The Chicago Tribune) and named 2007 Chamber Ensemble of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, CCM's ensemble of 15 world-class artists, including resident group CCM BRASS, has toured widely, commissioned 17 works from today's leading composers, and recorded extensively.
In addition to its 12-concert subscription series, contemporary music series Composer Perspectives, architectural series Sounds and Spaces, and annual Family Concerts, CCM offers a wide range of community initiatives including: music residencies in Chicago public schools; the Chamber Music Professional Development program to mentor young professional chamber ensembles; and the free First Monday concerts at the Chicago Cultural Center.
