Everett School Fourth Graders Raise Alzheimer's Awareness

Students are selling flowerpots, seeds at Lake Forest Jewel, May 18-19.

 

Teacher Amanda Antell's fourth grade class at is performing a service-learning project to raise awareness of Alzheimer's. Students wore purple in support of their mission and are selling hand painted flowerpots (donated by Home Depot) with Forget-Me-Not seeds in them May 18-19 at the Jewel in Lake Forest. Students will be out there from 3:15-5:30 p.m. May 18 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19. Proceeds from the sale will go to The Alzheimer's Foundation. The students also plan a visit to Autumn Leaves Memory Care facility in Vernon Hills. They will be painting flowerpots, playing board games, and singing with the residents.

Once again, the District APT offers a school supply ordering service online. District 67 parents can go online to order school supplies for the 2012-13 school year. School Pak, Inc. provides this service for the district based on the District 67 developed list for the 2012-13 school year. This program is sponsored by the APT and is totally optional. It is meant for the convenience and ease of our parents. New this year, School Pak is offering a 1 percent commission back to the district for all orders placed through the link below. The May Board of Education Meeting for District 67 will be held at 7 p.m. May 22 in the Board Room of Lake Forest High School West Campus, 300 S. Waukegan Road. Check the district website for additional information (www.lf67.org). Board agendas are posted on the district website as well as minutes from previous meetings. Board meetings are also taped and then shown on Lake Forest City Channel 17 throughout the month on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Wednesday at 8 a.m.
