Scouts’ Star Performer: Haleigh McPeek scored a pair of goals, including the winner with less than eight minutes to play.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Morgan McConachie scored the other Lake Forest goal. Lucy Edwards and Abby Shipp notched assists.

Who’s Next: Lake Forest plays in the quarterfinals of the Pepsi Showdown at Matea Valley at 4 p.m. Thursday (April 14).

The Bottom Line: The Scouts improved to 6-1-3 overall, and 1-0 in the North Suburban Conference.

The Final Score: Lake Forest 1, Oak Park-River Forest 0

Scouts’ Star Performer: Katie Murphy scored the game winner in the Pepsi Showdown contest.

Other Notable Scout Performances: The defense of Katherine McCauley, Lucy Edwards, Ginny McGowan and Katherine Cook helped goalie Liz Clark earn a shutout.

The Bottom Line: The Scouts have advanced to the quarterfinals.

 

BASEBALL

Date: April 12

The Final Score: Mundelein 9, Lake Forest 1

Scouts’ Star Performer: Brian Raymond scored the lone Scout run.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Jacob Hellinga, Brett Bartuch and Jack Wold had the three Lake Forest hits.

The Bottom Line: Mundelein belted out eight hits and took advantage of two Scout errors. Lake Forest batters struck out 11 times. John Palutsis suffered the pitching loss.

 

BOYS' TRACK

Date: April 11

The Final Score: Scouts 74, Lake Zurich 72

Scouts’ Star Performer:  Matt Miller finished first in shot put with a throw of 58 feet, 3 inches to break the previous school record, which had been set in 1992, by two feet.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Joe Hargitt won the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.7 seconds.

Who's Next: The Scouts head to Highland Park at 10 a.m. Saturday (April 16) for a triangular meet with Grayslake North.

The Bottom Line:  After having counted up the scores, Scout coaches were surprised to see that there had been a mistake made on the scores sheet in the press box. This discrepancy was in favor of Lake Zurich and ultimately gave the Bears the lead. While looking over the scores again, Scout coach Dennis Sheeran noticed that another mistake had been made, but this time in the long jump. Because of this, the Scouts once again came out on top to win the meet.
