Girls' Soccer Ties Highly Regarded Lyons; Softball Falls in Extra Innings to Waukegan

Scouts’ Star Performers: and teamed to win the No. 2 doubles match and then took their singles events. Doyle captured No. 1 singles, 21-19, 14-21, 24-22 while Nelson grabbed No. 4 singles in straight sets, 21-13, 22-20. also provided the Scouts with two points by taking her singles and doubles matches.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Victories by Sarah Zavitz, Sara Ismail, Sarah Bang, Annie Wells, Annie Belgrade, Julie Freedman, Olivia Nguyen, Maggie Dasso, Emily Woidat and Madeleine Panos added a point to the Lake Forest total.

Who’s Next: The Scouts host North Suburban Conference rivals Stevenson and Zion Benton for a triangular meet at 4:30 p.m. Friday (April 8). 

The Bottom Line:  Lake Forest showed its depth with solid performances throughout its lineup as 13 Scouts contributed to the team’s 12 points with wins in singles or doubles.

 

GIRLS' SOFTBALL

Date: April 6

The Final Score: Waukegan 8, Lake Forest 6 (10 innings) 
 
Scouts’ Star Performer: Natalia Murphy had an RBI that tied the score early in the game, and multiple scoops at first base to keep the Bulldogs from getting on base. 
 
Other Notable Scout Performance: Megan Salm was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, two singles, and three RBIs. Reanna Durbin and Lauren Johnson both contributed with doubles. 
 
Who's Next: Regina visits Lake Forest at 4:30 p.m. Friday (April 8). 
 
The Bottom Line: The Scouts trailed 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a triple by Salm and a bunt from Durbin scored three runs to put Lake Forest back in the game. The Scouts fought hard for three innings before giving up the winning run to the Bulldogs in the top of the 10th.

The Final Score: Lake Forest 1, Lyons Township 1

Scouts’ Star Performer: Catherine Traut scored the Scout goal assisted by Sheila Murphy. 
 
Other Notable Scout Performance: Goalie Liz Clark had to come up big on one breakaway and forced another LT player to shoot over the bar. 
 
Who's Next: The Scouts (3-1-3) host Wheaton at 4:30 Thursday (April 7)  ibn the second round of the Pepsi Showdown.

The Bottom Line: Lake Forest controlled much up the first half to gain a couple of good chances at the net. LT, regarded as one of the top teams in the state, kept the pressure up in the second half, and the two teams played evenly for most of the second half.

Scouts’ Star Performer: Morgan McConachie  and Sarah McClenehan each scored two goals each.

Other Notable Scout Performance: Ginny McGowan, Sheila Murphy and Katie Murphy  each scored one goal. Assists went to Mackenzie Adams, Dani Loeger, Kaitlin Close, Holly Wark, Haleigh McPeek and McConachie. 
 
The Bottom Line: A combined shutout in goal by Brenna Shannon and Liz Clark. Ten different players combined in the scoring.
