Lake Bluff Elementary Raises More Than $1,100, Truckloads of Supplies for Animal Shelter

Fifth grader's idea benefits Orphans of the Storm in Riverwoods.

Students at have made a difference this holiday season.

, the entire school and community participated in raising funds and donating food, toys and other supplies for Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter in Riverwoods.

The money, gift cards and supplies will assist with more than 700 animals at Orphans of the Storm, accoriding to Jackie Borchew, director of the animal shelter.

Third grade teacher Amanda Willey's class, which raised the most money, was treated to a pizza party Tuesday at the school. Borchew presented a certificate to honor Oldenburg's efforts, and she brought one of the orphan dogs, Red, as a special guest.
