What's Next: Lake Forest hosts Warren Friday night (Feb. 4) and Lake Forest Academy Saturday night (Feb. 5). Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

The Bottom Line: The Scouts (11-8) earned a good rebound win after the tough loss to Mundelein.

Final Score: Mundelein 70, (OT)

Scouts’ Star Performer: John Hayes scored a team-high 23 points, including what was the go-ahead bucket in overtime until Mundelein scored on a rebound-tiop-in at the buzzer.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Evan Boudreaux added 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Thomas Durrett netted 13.

The Bottom Line: Lake Forest trailed by as much as 14 points in the third quarter before storming back. Boudreaux had some key points in the fourth quarter and OT. The Scouts led 69-65 in the overtime, but couldn't stop the Mustangs, who were led by Robert Knar's 34 points.

Final Score: St. Viator 48

Scouts’ Star Performer: Thomas Durett scored a team-high 16 points, but George Quall netted nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to keep St. Viator at bay.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Evan Boudreaux added nine points while John Hayes chipped in seven.

The Bottom Line: The score was tied at 40 after three quarters, but the Scouts limited the host Lions to eight points in the final stanza to win.

 

WRESTLING

Date: Jan. 28

Final Score: Grant 224.50, Libertyville 213, Antioch 166.5, Lake Zurich 147, Zion-Benton 134, Stevenson 111, Warren 102.5, Wauconda 91.5, Mundelein 76.5, Vernon Hills 67, Round Lake 62, Lakes 43, , North Chicago 16

Scouts’ Star Performer: took third at 170 pounds, decisioning Warren's Hicks, 16-7.

The Bottom Line: Shea will wrestle at the Stevenson Regional next weekend, which could be very tough with schools like Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, Lake Zurich and the host Patriots to overcome.

 

GIRLS' GYMNASTICS

Date: Jan. 27

Final Score: Stevenson 144.6, Mundelein 141.1, Warren 137.5, Libertyville 134.7, Vernon Hills 124.825

Scouts’ Star Performer: Kylie Carlson collected second in the all-around with 37.175 that included third in vault (9.875), fourth on uneven parallel bars (9.4) and balance beam (8.7).

Other Notable Scout Performances: Brittany Moccia secured second on balance beam (8.95) and finished fifth in all-around (36.65). Kat McKeon claimed fifth in vault (9.575) and uneven parallel bars (9.3).

The Bottom Line: The Scouts will host the Regional at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. They should move on easily to the Niles West Sectional on Feb. 9 where they will have to face North Suburban Conference foes Vernon Hills, Stevenson and Mundelein again.

 

GIRLS' HOCKEY

Date: Jan. 22

Final Score: Darien Den 4,

Scouts’ Star Performer: Captain Jessie Gould scored a pair of goals with one by Maddie Pfalzer.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Assists went to Willa DeBoom and Haley Conroy. Goalie Lindsay Projansky had a busy night, facing 38 shots and making 34 saves

The Bottom Line: The Scouts celebrated Senior Night recently, honoring Haley Conroy, Jessie Gould, Dana Markee, Kelsey Patten, and Marie Soukup.
