Lake Forest Boys' Basketball Uses Fourth Quarter Run to Beat Stevenson

Scouts’ Star Performer: Thomas Durrett hit for 15 points and Evan Boudreaux added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Reserve George Quall hit a key three-pointer in the fourth quarter and finished with five points.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Luke Strepa hit three of four free throws late in the game.

What’s Next: Lake Forest (6-7 overall, 1-3 in NSC Lake play) hosts Lake Zurich at 7:30 Friday night (Jan. 13) and Wauconda at 7:30 Saturday night (Jan. 14). 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts won a big road game thanks to contributions from several players. Lake Forest put together a 20-5 run over the last six minutes of the game. Boudreaux tied the game at 43-all with a basket and free throw with 2:37 left, and then Quall's three-pointer gave the Scouts the lead for good with under two minutes remaining. Quall had come in for Carter Bass, who left with bloody nose after a collision under the basket.

 

BOYS' SWIMMING

Date: Jan. 4

Final Score: Libertyville 82

Scouts’ Star Performer: Bryan Bunning captured the 200-yard freestyle and Peter Grumhaus won both the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.

Other Notable Scout Performances: The Scouts swept all three relays. Andrew Marsh captured the diving.

What’s Next: Lake Forest hosts Vernon Hills at 5 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 12) and participates in the Trevian Relays at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 14) at New Trier in Winnetka. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts used depth to register the NSC Lake Dual meet win.

 

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Date: Jan. 7

Final Score: Wauconda 44,

Scouts’ Star Performer: Mary Striedl led with nine points including a three-pointer. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: Michelle Antonucci added seven points.

What’s Next: Lake Forest (3-16 overall, 0-7 in NSC Lake play) visits Elk Grove for a non-conference at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts are 0-2 to start 2012. A six-point second quarter was the difference. Lake Forest scored 25 of its 37 points in the second half.

Final Score: Warren 56,

Scouts’ Star Performer: Mary Striedl enjoyed one of her best games of the season, scoring 22 points, grabbing eight rebounds, making two steals and three blocks. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: Gabby Perino and Annie Keller also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Bottom Line: Lake Forest led in the second half and as late as with two minutes to play, but then went cold and the Bears took advantage.
