Lake Forest Boys’ Golfers Capture Regional Crown

Field Hockey team blanks New Trier; tennis, soccer teams post wins.

BOYS' GOLF

Date: Oct. 4 

The Final Score: 1. 293, 2. Carmel 298, 3. Mundelein 303.

Scouts’ Star Performer: won individual honors with a two-under par 70. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: fired a 74 while and shot 75s. 76 did not count in the team total though he finished 13th in the medal standings.

Who’s Next: The Scouts move on to the Sectional Monday (Oct. 10) at Hilldale in Hoffman Estates. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts began defense of their state championship by dominating the field. All five golfers would have qualified for the Sectional meet as individuals based on their scores. 

 

FIELD HOCKEY

Date: Oct. 4 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 1, New Trier 0

Scouts’ Star Performers: scored the Scouts lone goal with an assist from . 

Other Notable Scout Performances: Caroline Marwede, Lauren Yarkony, Izzy Montagne, Amanda McMahon and goalie Lina Trucco led a solid defensive effort. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts scored 10 minutes into the game and played tenacious defense the rest of the way, according to Lake Forest coach Melanie Walsh, to hand the Trevians their first loss of the season. Lake Forest is now 17-2-2 for the year. 

 

Date: Oct. 3 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 8, Elgin Academy 0

Scouts’ Star Performers: Natalie Asher and Mackenzie Mick each tallied a goals and two assists. Abby Sirus and Brenna Carberry each scored twice. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: Kelsey Adams and Margot Mayer each added goals. Additional assists were contributed by Emily Cavalaris, Morgan Dever and Katie Skinner. 

Who’s Next: The Scouts travel to Lake Forest Academy at 4:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 6). 

The Bottom Line: Walsh juggled her lineup a little as the Scouts demonstrated a blistering offense against Elgin. 

 

BOYS' SOCCER

Date: Oct. 4 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 2, Libertyville 1 

Scouts’ Star Performers: James Ankenman and each scored a goal. 

Who’s Next: The Scouts travel to Lake Zuirch at 6:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 6). 

 

GIRLS' TENNIS

Date: Oct. 3 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 7, Libertyville 0

Scouts’ Star Performers: (No. 1), (No. 2) and (No. 3) each posted singles victories. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: The doubles teams of Taya Zoubareva and (No. 1), and Colleen Morris (No. 2), Erin Hart and (No. 3) along with Natalie Pollard and Emily Kuchman all won. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts continued their dual meet domination over North Suburban Conference foes. 

 

Date: Oct. 1 

The Final Score: New Trier 3, Lake Forest 2; Hinsdale Central 4, Lake Forest 1; Lake Forest 4, Deerfield 1.

Scouts’ Star Performers:  Elizabeth Zordani, Victoria Falk, Catherine Orfanos and Haley Killam each secured a pair of wins in either singles or doubles. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: Taya Zoubareva, Paige Douglas Erin Hart, Megan Morris and Colleen Morris each netted a victory. 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts invited three of the state’s top teams to their invitational, defeating Deerfield and falling to Hinsdale Central and New Trier. Scouts coach Denise Murphy juggled her lineup to give opportunities to a lot of players.

The Final Score: Lake Forest 7, Lake Zurich 0

Scouts’ Star Performers: Megan Morris (No. 1), Paige Douglass (No. 2) and Natalie Pollard (No. 3) all had singles victories. 

Other Notable Scout Performances: The doubles teams of Elizabeth Zordani and Catherine Orfanos (No. 1), Taya Zoubareva and Victoria Falk (No. 2), Haley Killam and Erin Hart (No. 3) along with Emily Kuchman and Lucy Lincoln posted wins. 

Who’s Next:  The Scouts compete in the North Suburban Conference Meet Thursday through Saturday. 

The Bottom Line: Lake Forest coach Denise Murphy put three seniors in the singles spots for Senior Day.
