Lake Forest Boys' Golfers Garner Prestigious Title

Field hockey, volleyball and tennis teams all win. Girls' golfers finishes 9th of 20.

BOYS' GOLF

Date: Sept. 20 

The Final Score: , 2. New Trier 158, 3. Loyola 161, 4. Highland Park 165.

Scouts’ Star Performer: finished the Northmoor Country Club course in even par 36.

Other Notable Scout Performances:  added a 37, fired a 37 and contributed a 38.

The Bottom Line: In a quadrangular match on a challenging course, the Scouts easily topped three of the teams they will have to stop to defend their state title. 

Date: Sept. 19 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 156, Libertyville 168 

Scouts’ Star Performer: Charlie Marshall fired a 37.

Other Notable Scout Performances: carded a 39 while both and chipped in 40s. 

Who’s Next:  The Scouts entertain Lake Zurich at 4 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 22). 

The Bottom Line: Playing on the challenging Knollwood Club course in Lake Forest, the Scouts earned a 12-stroke victory over the Wildcats to remain undefeated in dual meet competition. 

 

FIELD HOCKEY

Date: Sept. 20 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 1, Stevenson 0 

Scouts’ Star Performer: kept the Patriots out of the net with her sixth shutout of the season.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Kelsey Adams scored Lake Forest’s lone goal with an assist from .

The Bottom Line: , Izzy Montagne, Caroline Marwede and Amanda McMahon played solid defense to assist Trucco, according to Scouts coach Melanie Walsh. The Scouts are 8-2 for the season. 

Date: Sept. 19 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 3, Highland Park 1 

Scouts’ Star Performers: , Mackenzie Mick and Jordan Amos each tallied a goal.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Halle Frain, Margot Mayer and Katie Sullivan added assists.

Who’s Next: Lake Forest will entertain Loyola at 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 24) on the Front Lawn for homecoming. 

The Bottom Line:      The Scouts applied pressure on the Giants throughout for their seventh victory of the season. 

 

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL

Date: Sept. 19 

The Final Score: Lake Forest defeated Evanston, 25-13, 20-25 and 25-17 

Scouts’ Star Performers: dished out 34 assists and added five kills. notched 10 kills and four aces.

Other Notable Scout Performances: scored 10 kills, eight digs and four aces. Carolyn Hopfinger contributed eight kills. 

Who’s Next: The Scouts entertain Warren at 6 p.m. today (Sept. 21). 

The Bottom Line:  After Lake Forest took the first set easily, nine second set errors helped Evanston even the match. Solid passing and a balanced attack gave the Scouts an early third set lead and the win, according to Lake Forest coach Ray Werner. The Scouts improved their record to 12-3. 

 

GIRLS' TENNIS

Date: Sept. 19 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 6, Warren 1 

Scouts’ Star Performers: Elizabeth Zordani earned a win at No. 1 singles while Megan Morris was victorious at No. 2. In doubles, Catherine Orfanos and Victoria Falk (No. 1), Margaux Miller and Colleen Morris (No. 2), Haley Killam and Emily Kuchman (No. 3) along with Natalie Pollard and Emily Woidat also nothced wins.

Who’s Next: Lake Forest travels to Glenbrook North at 4 p.m. today (Sept. 21) and Stevenson at 4 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 22). 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts continued to dominate North Suburban Conference foes winning six of seven matches and dropping only three sets.  

 

GIRLS' GOLF

Date: Sept. 17 

The Final Score: Lake Forest finishes 9th out of 20 teams at Rockford Guilford Invitational   

Scouts’ Star Performer: led the Scouts with an 82.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Sara Svendsen carded a 92, Becca Scribner added a 94 and Allie Hubbard shot 100. 

Who’s Next:  The Scouts entertain Stevenson at 4 p.m. today (Sept. 21) at the Lake Bluff Golf Club. 

The Bottom Line: Svendsen was promoted from the junior varsity due to illness of two of the regulars and contributed to the Scouts' second best score.
