Scouts' Bund places 10th in 1600 at State.

The Final Score: 1. Hinsdale Central 50, 2. New Trier 36, 3. , 4. Stevenson 27.

Top Scout Performers: placed sixth in singles, falling in the fifth-place match to Hinsdale Central's Sam Bloom, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Tarwid won his first three matches before losing to Hinsdale Central's Martin Joyce in the championship bracket quarterfinals, 7-5, 6-4. But he bounced back in the consolation bracket to win his next two matches to advance to the fifth-place match.

Other Notable Scout Performers: Scott Christian won his first three matches before losing in the fourth round of singles play. The doubles team of Camron Bagheri and Connor O'Kelly won their first three matches before losing in the championship bracket quarterfinals, and then were eliminated in the consolation quarterfinals. The other Lake Forest doubles duo of Ryan Kennedy and Will Martin captured their first two matches before losing, and then were eliminated in the consolation bracket.

The Bottom Line: Featuring a lineup dominated by underclassmen, the Scouts took advantage of sporting a full lineup and earned their best place finish at State since taking a full team in 2009 and placing sixth.

The Final Score: 1. Lake Park, 48; 2. Edwardsville 41; 3. Oak Park-River Forest, 41. Lake Forest did not earn a team point.

Top Scout Performers: Junior Billy Bund finished 10th in the 1,600 meters, clocking a time of 4 minutes, 16.11 seconds. New Trier's Leland Later took dfirst in 4:09.95.

Other Notable Scout Performers: Scouts senior high jumper Chris Stolzman ckleared 6 feet, 2 inches in the prelims, but a heighth of 6-5 was needed to make the finals.

The Bottom Line: After not qualifying for State last year as a sophomore, Bund ran one of the his fastest times of the season to finish in the top 10.
