After a North Suburban Conference Lake Division championship season and Class 6A state playoff appearance, Lake Forest High School's football team is just six weeks away from starting practices for the 2012 season.
The Scouts, who finished 8-3 overall in 2011, open the season Aug. 24 at home against Buffalo Grove, according to schedules released Thursday by the Illinois High School Association.
Lake Forest then goes on the road for two straight weeks at Highland Park (Aug. 31) and Lakes High (Sept. 7). The Scouts return home for three straight home games featuring Lake Zurich (Sept. 14), Zion-Benton (Sept. 21) and Libertyville (Sept. 28).
The regular season closes with three road games in October: Stevenson (Oct. 5), Warren (Oct. 12) and Mundelein (Oct. 19).
All games start at 7:30 p.m. except the Highland Park game, which starts at 7 p.m.
