Lake Forest Golfers Tie For 3rd At Top-Tiered Invite

Scouts’ Star Performers: Senior Henry Briggs cards a team-low 73 followed by classmate Chad Williams and junior Jack Barrie, who each shot 75s.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Senior Corbon Heizer and classmate John Hermes each shots 78s, while Mackenzie Mardjetko had an 80 and Alex Applebaum an 81.

The Bottom Line: While part of the Scouts' lineup competed at the Buffalo Grove Invitational, the other half took care of business in the Lake Forest Quad. Briggs missed medalist honors by one stroke behind Carmel's Brian Miller, who shot a 72 at the Lake Bluff Golf Club.

Scouts’ Star Performers: Joe Willis shot a 73 and teammate Ian Mankoff a respectable 74, but in this talented field it was good for 11th and 13th places, respectively. Glenbrook North's Nick Jan earned medalist honors with a 67.

Other Notable Scout Performances: Rounding out the Scouts' scorers were Charlie Marshall (76), Matt Garrity (77), Drew Takacs (77) and Nick Steffens (79).

What's Next: Lake Forest visits Zion-Benton for a dual meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8). On Saturday (Sept. 10), the Scouts will split between the Giant Invite in Highland Park and the ZeeBee Invite in Zion.

The Bottom Line: Faced with a state-caliber field at Buffalo Grove, the Scouts were right in the thick of things. There will be other chances to see teams like New Trier, Glenbrook North and Highland Park - like this Saturday's Giant Invite.
