The Lake Forest High School varsity and junior varsity dance teams both recently collected first-place finishes at the Universal Dance Association Elite Camp in Bloomington, Ill.
The Varsity Dance Team captured the First Place Home Routine in the Large Varsity Division, which qualifies the group for the National Dance Team Championship with their jazz performance to “I Was Born This Way”.
In addition, the team won A routine full out award, B & C superior award - all blue ribbons, the Super Spirit stick on the second night and the spirit stick on all nights.
Seniors Emily Johnson and Simone Stamelos tried out and made the all-star squad. Both the varsity and the junior varsity teams tied for the leadership award.
Varsity is coached by Candice Davenport and Nikki Lazzaretto, and team members include Johnson (captain), Lexi Oberheide (captain), Stamelos (captain), Allison Vogrich, M.J. Massar, Hannah Sacco, Nicole Vargas, Caroline McGavock, Nikki Landsell, Julia Zureikat, Briana Lapetina, Kathleen Kurschner, Layne Suhre, Sarah Whitney, Maddie Neil and Jennie Lepman.
The Junior Varsity Dance team also secured First Place Home Routine in the Junior Varsity Division with their jazz performance to “You & Me”. In addition, the team won A routine full out award, B & C superior awards and the spirit stick on all nights.
The team was coached by Claire Troller during the summer. Team members include Margot Dempsey (captain), Rachel Gaye (captain), Jessie Hennum, Mikaela Higgins, Gwen Jordan, Katie Kissel, Ansley Ashmore, Katie Bertram, Klaire Kaptrosky, Taylor Marcusson, Claire Milligan, Clara Reinkemeyer, Jianna Santello, and Maddie Sheridan.
