Lake Forest High School Moves Prom Date Due to Chicago Hosting NATO/G-8 Summits

Prom has been rescheduled from its original date of May 19 to May 12. The change comes due to the announcement that both NATO and G-8 summits will be held in Chicago the weekend of May 19, and the resultant citywide security concerns. More information can be found at www.lfhs.org. In addition, Junior parents are encouraged to volunteer to be chaperones for Prom. Volunteers will enjoy dinner together at the chaperones’ tables and parking spots will be reserved at LFHS in the main lot for all chaperones. LFHS students will be asked to complete the Illinois Youth Survey on Feb. 6. As a part of ongoing efforts to support LFHS students, the Illinois Youth Survey will be given to students during third period class. The survey contains questions on health behaviors, the community, friends, family, and the school. The results of the survey will aid in assessing the school and providing guidance for future prevention programming decisions. All responses are anonymous. The survey is voluntary. There will be a LFHS APT sponsored Freshmen Parent Meeting from 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 8  in the David Miller Theatre at LFHS East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road. The topic will be service opportunities and driver education.

In-coming eighth graders (LFHS class of 2016) Core Course Level Change Request Consultations/Adjustments will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 in the LFHS Library, East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road. More information can be found at www.lfhs.org.

The Lake Forest Community High School Board of Education Meeting has been rescheduled from Feb. 14 to Feb. 13. The meeting starts at 7 p.m at the Board Room of Lake Forest High School-West Campus, 300 S. Waukegan Road.

Save the Date for the second annual “Planting a Foundation for Education” spring benefit on April 11. Last year, more than 200 guests came out to enjoy a luncheon and show their support of the LFHS Foundation. Invitations will be mailed in February. The LFHS APT is currently looking for individuals to fill the two-year APT Executive Board positions of recording secretary and treasurer as well as other APT Committee member positions. The Nominating Committee will be working over the next few months to find qualified and interested individuals to fill these positions beginning in May of 2012.
