College-bound students are encouraged to investigate scholarships and financial aid. LFHS students wishing to pursue scholarship opportunities can view a list of all current scholarship offerings through the Naviance system, which contains the most current list of offerings, or in Scholarship Scoop, a publication which is updated frequently and available at www.lfhs.org. This information, along with some scholarship applications, is available in the College and Career Resource Center at LFHS East Campus. In addition to the Scholarship Scoop publication, the applications for the Local Scholarships, which are for LFHS students only, will be available toward the end of January 2012.

Lake Forest High School will participate for the second year in a scholarship program for LFHS juniors, who would like to attend a four-year college. The College Bound Opportunities (CBO) program is a scholarship program for students who need financial assistance and could use the help of a mentor to guide them through the college application process and through their four years of college. High school juniors are selected for this program through an application and interview process. Applications are due Jan. 6, 2012. The general criteria for this program are: A household income of not more than $60,000 for a family of four, barring any extraordinary circumstances, a minimum grade point average of 3.8, a critical need for a mentor to help guide the student through the college process and through the student’s four years of college. For more information about becoming a volunteer mentor in this program or to pick up an application, contact Kathy O’Hara at (847) 582-7774 or kohara@lfschools.net.

LFHS Forest Trails Yearbook would like your Tweets -
are you connected? This year, LFHS Forest Trails yearbook staff has chosen “Connected” as the theme for the 2011-2012 yearbook. They will showcase all the different ways that LFHS students connect: socially, academically, globally, and digitally.

In addition, they will be taking the book one step further by incorporating links to videos, images, news articles, and more. They want to stay connected to the parents and hear their perspective on school programs, sporting events, concerts, musicals, and community events. Share comments and/or photos by posting to Twitter using the hashtag #lfhsconnected.
