Students Gain Insight into Workplace Through Open Doors Career Exploration Program

Students start registration process for next year this month.

 

In-coming eighth graders (LFHS class of 2016) Core Course Level Change Request Consultations/Adjustments will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 from in the Lake Forest High School Library, East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road. More information can be found at www.lfhs.org.

The Lake Forest Community High School Board of Education Meeting has been rescheduled from Feb. 14 to Feb. 13, 7 p.m. in the Board Room of Lake Forest High School – West Campus, 300 S. Waukegan Road.

LFHS students will meet with their counselors in February to register for next year's classes. Students do not need to make an appointment, as they will meet during their English period according to the following schedule:  Juniors (Class of 2013) - Feb. 8-14, Sophomores (Class of 2014) - Feb. 15-24, Freshman (Class of 2015) - Feb. 27 to March 1. More information can be found at www.lfhs.org. The process should be completed by March 6 with a confirmation of the registration mailed home in mid-March.

There will be no school for students Feb. 17 (Teacher Institute Day) and Feb. 20 (Presidents’ Day). Feb. 22 will be a Late Start Day with classes beginning at 9:50 a.m. and buses running two hours later than normally scheduled.

LFHS Open Doors Career Exploration Program will offer a speaker series "Lunch & Learn: Conversations for Careers" beginning in February with a schedule continuing through April. Students will have several opportunities to learn about various career choices from professionals in a variety of industries. These sessions are open to freshmen through seniors. Save the Date - April 24-25 for the seventh annual Open Doors Career Exploration Program to be held April 24-25. The purpose of this job-shadowing program is to provide LFHS students with first-hand, on-the-job experience with professionals in the community and with local volunteer agencies during the two days when freshmen, sophomores and seniors have off from school while juniors will be taking the Prairie State Exams. The Junior Class of Lake Forest High School will host a themed party for the Senior Citizens of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff on March 11 at the Dickinson Hall Senior Center, 100 East Old Mill Road. More information is available at www.lfhs.org.
