Lake Forest Hosts Fenton in 1st Round of Class 6A State Playoffs

Bison shutout their last two opponents.

The second season has begun.

Lake Forest High School's football team will host a Class 6A State first-round playoff game against Fenton in a matchup of two 7-2 teams. The winner will face the winner of the Batavia (9-0)-Niles Notre Dame (5-4) game.

The Illinois High School Association will not release times and dates until 3 p.m. Monday (Oct. 24), but the Scouts' first-round game is likely to start at 7 p.m. next Friday (Oct. 28) at Varsity Field.

that clinched a share of the North Suburban Conference Lake Division with Stevenson and Lake Zurich, Lake Forest earned a No. 8 seed in the bottom part of the Class 6A bracket. Fenton earned a No. 9 seed. Batavia is the No. 1 seed in the bottom bracket, followed by Prairie Ridge, Nazareth Academy, Antioch, Lakes High, Cary-Grove and Chicago Foreman.

In the upper bracket, the first four seeds went to Lemont, Hyde Park, Hubbard and Normal Community. In the middle bracket, the top four seeds are Crete-Monee, Normal Community West, Danville and Normal Community.

Fenton finished runner-up in the Metro Suburban Conference after losing 40-8 to Glenbard South on Oct. 7. The loss snapped two straight Metro titles for the Bison. Fenton rebounded in the last two weeks to post a pair of shutouts over Elmwood Park, 14-0, on Oct. 14 and Riverside-Brookfield, 20-0, Friday night.

The Bison won their first five games of the season to mark their best start since 1984 before losing to Ridgewood, 32-20. Fenton's offense is led by quarterback Sean Havlovic and Alan Geneva, while linebacker Roman Castellanos spearheads the defense.
