Update: Parks, Libraries Join Schools Altering Schedule

Some facilities are closed all day while others will shut down early.

(Update at 10:15 a.m.) Programs of the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department, the Lake Bluff Park District, the Lake Forest Public Library and the Lake Bluff Public Library have all been altered because of the snow.

The Lake Forest Recreation Center, Stirling Hall, the Wildlife Discovery Center, the Deerpath Golf Course office and the fitness center will all close at noon today, according to Marketing Director Cathy Japuntich.

The Lake Bluff Public Library is closed today, according to information on its website. The Lake Forest Public Library will close at noon, according to a recording on its telephone.

The Lake Bluff Park District will end its day at 3 p.m., according to Guest Services Manager Christie Carey. “We are calling out to all people who use our facilities to let them know,” she said. “There will be sign a on the door.”

A number of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department classes and programs have also been cancelled, according to Japuntich. They are satellite classes, athletic programs, dance classes, Family Indoor Playground, Young Chefs, Dynamic Ceramics, gymnastics, all afternoon classes at the fitness center and all squash classes.

(Earlier at 10:09 p.m. Monday) All public schools in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff will close Tuesday in anticipation of a storm expected to drop as much as 10 inches of snow on the area, according to weather.com.

Lake Forest High School and Lake Forest School District 67 will not hold class “due to the potential for heavy snow,” according to an email from Communications Director Anne Whipple. Little Scouts Preschool and after school care are closed as well.

In Lake Bluff, all District 65 schools will not be open, according to WBBM radio. Lake Forest Country Day School will not have class either, according to the school website.

There was no information on St. Mary’s School, Lake Forest Academy or Woodlands Academy on those institutions’ websites.
