Lake Forest Rules Its Own Volleyball Invitational

Swimmers grab 2nd at Evanston. Soccer team falls to Glenbrook South.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL 

Date: Oct. 1 

The Final Score: defeated Carmel, 25-20, 29-27; Lake Forest defeated Regina, 25-12, 25-22; Lake Forest defeated Lane Tech, 25-8, 25-17; Lake Forest defeated Grayslake North, 25-14, 25-20; Lake Forest defeated Deerfield, 25-14, 25-19.

Scouts’ Star Performers: contributed 44 kills, 24 digs, four blocks and four aces. logged 92 assists, five kills, five aces and 10 digs.

Other Notable Scout Performances: notched 23 kills, four aces, 10 digs and four blocks while helped out with 24 assists, 13 kills, eight digs and four aces.

Who’s Next: The Scouts entertain Loyola Academy at 6 tonight (Oct.3). 

The Bottom Line: The Scouts ran their record to 20-3 overall after winning five matches at their own invitational. Sierks and Lanzillotti made the all-tournament team. 

 

GIRLS' SWIMMING 

Date: Oct. 1 

The Final Score: 1. Loyola Academy 5,327, 2. Lake Forest, 5,225, 3. University High 4,636, 4. Evanston 4,461, 5. Notre Dame 3,949, 6. Oswego 3,671, 7. Latin School 2,536, 8. Byron 2,165. 

Scouts’ Star Performer:  breezed to victory in both the 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle. She also anchored the 200 medley relay team and the 400 freestyle relay to second place.

Other Notable Scout Performances: finished third in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. captured second in the 100 backstroke with third. finished third in the 50 freestyle as did Eleanor Meeks in the 100 butterfly and Ann McArdle in the 100 breaststroke. 

Who’s Next: Lake Forest hosts Vernon Hills at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Ocrt. 4).

The Bottom Line: Second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay as well as third in the 200 freestyle relay helped the Scouts contend with the Ramblers for the tournament title 

 

BOYS' SOCCER

Date: Oct. 1 

The Final Score: Glenbrook South 3, Lake Forest 2 

Scouts’ Star Performer: scored a goal and an assist.

Other Notable Scout Performance: added a goal. 

Who’s Next: The Scouts entertain Libertyville at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 4). 

The Bottom Line: Glenbrook South grabbed a 2-0 lead with a goal in the first half and early in the second. Forlow scored on a penalty kick and Moderwell tied the game on a free kick assisted by Forlow. The Titans scored the game-winner with 26 seconds remaining. The Scouts are 9-4-0 for the season.
