Lake Forest Soccer Blanks Stevenson; Volleyball Rallies Behind Striedl

Scouts’ Star Performer: had eight saves in half the game.

Other Notable Scout Performances: scored the first Lake Forest goal with an assist from while added the second.

Who’s Next: The Scouts travel to Glenbrook South at noon Saturday (Oct. 1). 

The Bottom Line: Scoring in the game’s first 12 minutes, the Scouts put the Patriots on the defensive the rest of the way, according to Lake Forest coach Rob Parry. Audley joined forces with Devin Gregory (2 saves) to log Lake Forest’s sixth shutout of the season. The Scouts are 9-3-0. 

 

FIELD HOCKEY 

Date: Sept. 26 

The Final Score: Lake Forest 0, Oak Park-River Forest 0 (Double Overtime) 

Scouts’ Star Performer: had eight saves in goal.

Other Notable Scout Performances: and Isabelle Montagne played solid defense to help Trucco. 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts travel to Glenbard West at 5 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 29). 

The Bottom Line: Skinner played every minute of the game, including overtime and Montagne, who started playing field hockey this summer, were stellar on defense, according to Lake Forest coach Melanie Walsh.

 

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL

Date: Sept. 27

The Final Score: Lake Forest defeated Wauconda, 25-19, 25-21

Scouts’ Star Performer: Mary Striedl recorded 12 kills and 5 service aces.

Who’s Next: The Scouts (14-3 overall, 4-0 in the North Suburban Conference) host New Trier at 6 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30) and host their own invitational Saturday (Oct. 1).

The Bottom Line: The Scouts did not play their best match of the season, but were able to fight off a solid Wauconda squad on Senior Night. Striedl played a very solid match, changing momentum to the Scouts' favor through her explosive front row play and finishing the match with multiple aces from the serving line, according to Lake Forest coach Ray Werner.
