Lake Forest's Miller, Shaw Head to State Boys' Track Meet

Both Scouts' discus participants qualify for State meet. Miller earns berth in shot put.

Lake Forest’searned state qualifying berths in the shot put and discus at Friday's Palatine Sectional.

Miller will be joined by teammate Andrew Shaw as the school's participants in the Class 3A State Meet opening Thursday (May 26) at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. 

Miller took second place in the discus with a throw of 171 feet, 4 inches to break the school record, and third in the shot put with a toss of 55-0.5.

Shaw hurled the discus 158-0 to take fourth in the Sectional and easily top the state qualifying standard. The top two finishers earn a trip to the State Finals along with anyone meeting the required distance.
