LFHS Girls Field Hockey Wins State Title

The stellar women's team snags the title on their home field.

The Lake Forest High School Girls Field Hockey Team won the state title this weekend at the state tournament, whcih was held at Lake Forest High School.

The talented ladies won the semi-finals of the tournament on Friday 3-1 against Oak Park-River Forest High School, propelling them into the finals.

They defeated Loyola Academy on Saturday 3-0 to capture their eighth state championship in 12 years.

Emily Cavalaris scored the first points of the game with 1:30 left in the first half, ending the scoreless tie, the Sun-Times reported. Morgan Dever added the 2nd goal off a fantastic cross from Emily George, and Mackenzie Mick scored the final goal of the game off an assist from Mackenzie Adams with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half.

"Loyola never backed down but couldn’t generate any offense against the Scouts’ stingy defense," Coach Melanie Walsh said in an email. "Lake Forest ends the season with a record of 19-2."
