Now the LFEA is harming the scholarship potential for some of the kids. They really DO care. At least it will only be this one game. Next week, school will be going with or without the supposed "teachers".

A large group of parents came to west campus to cheer on the boys after their meeting with Coach Spagnoli. Parents were all dressed in blue and gold and came to show their support for the team and especially for Coach who had the courage to do the right thing for the boys, way to go Coach!

Way to go Coach! Stay strong Board. Hire replacements and lets get all of our education and activity programs going again. Teachers, you should be fired for job abandonment. Just because you can strike doesn't mean it's the right thing and don't go staying you're showing the kids to standup for what you believe in. The tougher adult thing to do is stay on the job or make individual decisions to resign. Not throw down your crayons and walk out.

Congrats to you Coach. I hope of few of your peers will do the same this week. It is a shame.

After all our students and high school community went through last year... LFHS, the BOE etc.. stressed the importance of Emotional Wellness for the students. Well, guess what teachers? What you are doing to our kids has NOTHING to do with keeping the well emotionally. You should all be ashamed of yourselves!

The worst part of all this was listening to and seeing how upset the boys were. They wanted so badly to compete. They believed that they could win. The teacher's/union when presented with the offer in the morning. They asked what time the football team had until before they would have to forfeit. These kids waited by their phones all day. At 4:30 pm when the call came that they could not compete they were visually upset. I was asked then by my son why are they doing this to us? Why is Coach the only one who cares? How do you answer that as a parent? How do you tell them that teachers who 3 days ago professed to really care - don't. Thank goodness for Coach who showed that his word to these boys is his bond. He is a true role model for these kids.

@Peter. You are so sadly right. This has been such a difficult 18 months for the Senior class with loss of life of a classmate and other challenges. Yet these teachers claim to be the ones that are courageous. The students - particularly those who have worked so hard to compete in their respective sports this year - are the courageous ones. On Mon morning we'll see which of the LFHS teachers have any courage or compassion.

To the football players and to ALL of the other LFHS athletes who work hard & maintain a code of conduct to represent LFHS-stay strong. The teachers will realize that life will go on & games/meets/matches will resume with or WITHOUT them. GO SCOUTS!

All the students are learning a valuable lesson in GREED...taught by the teachers. Plain and simple, they want more money just because...even though they are the second highest paid group in the state. It wont be the first time the kids encounter the evil of greed in their lives, now they will know what it looks like!

Sadly, even this week during the strike, when the students see the teachers in town at lunch or on the front lawn of the school, the teachers continue to act as if they have not choice and that they would rather be teaching. Thanks to Coach Spagnoli and Mr. Coad, a well respected math teacher, the students DO know that their teachers have a choice. Up until now teachers at LFHS have taught our children to be independent thinkers, leaders, not to give in to peer pressure, and most importantly to be respectful and to make their actions be respected. Now, unfortunately, our students are seeing that even their favorite teachers are not living up to their truths and their words. As much as I want to see my son, who is a senior, back on that football field, I stand behind the school board 100%!

Agreed, GREED is the driving factor. Using the students as pawns in their game of greed. Nice! The students really don't understand the issues, all they know is their favorite teacher is being taken advantage of by the Board. The teachers need a reality check, they should leave their LF/LB BUBBLE and try to find work else where. The reality of it is, if they are lucky they will get a third of what they are paid now and have to deal with non-north shore kids.
