Lake Forest is able to run out the clock. It's being reported that the last time Lake Forest beat Stevenson was 1995. At the very least, it's the first time Lake Forest has beaten the Patriots since Chuck Spagnoli became coach nine years ago.

Update: It was 1997. Lake Forest beat the Patriots, 26-19.

1:39: On third down and 10, quarterback Jordan Beck sprinted to his left and looked to turn the corner, but he was confronted by the Patriots defense, and the two sides collided. Stevenson tried to strip the ball from Beck, but he wouldn't surrender it. The ensuing frenzy on the Lake Forest sideline caused the officials to flag Stevenson for a personal foul, giving Lake Forest a much-needed first down at the Stevenson 36-yard line.

2:10: Lake Forest took over possession at its own 20, and two running plays by Owen Williams netted no yards.

2:10: The game boiled down to this play. After moving 52 yards on eight plays following a short Lake Forest punt, the drive stalled at the Scouts' 14 on fourth down and four.

The Patriots elected to go for the tie and Matt Micucci's 32-yard attempt was no good. Score stays at 10-7.

5:37: Driving from its own 24, Stevenson finally struck on a 17 yard TD pass form Matt Micucci to Anthony Bozin. Micucci added the extra point. Drive lasted 7 plays, covered 76 yards. 10-7.

Lake Forest is without receiver Bo Dever, who is on the bench with ice on his right knee. Apparently happened on a catch attempt in the first half.

7:43: Stevenson takes the kick-off and starts at its own 31. Tom Kutschke is having a great outing on defense for Lake Forest. He just sacked Patriot quarterback Matt Micucci.

7:48: Jordan Beck connects with Owen Williams on a 26-yard screen pass, and Williams catapults into the end zone for the touchdown. Baylor Broughton adds the extra point. Drive took 9 plays, 78 yards. 10-0.

9:02: Lake Forest takes over second and eight at its own 47. Facing fourth down and four at the Stevenson 34, the Scouts are able to draw the Patriots offside to set up first down at the Stevenson 29.

Third Quarter

Lake Forest was driving as the quarter ended thanks to a nifty pass from Jordan Beck to Luke Bernardi that brought the ball close to midfield.

3:31: Stevenson takes over at its own 21 following Lake Forest punt.

4:24: Luke Bernardi returns the punt 19 yards to set up Lake Forest at its own 43 yard line. But they were unable to move the ball and punted it away.

Neither team has been able to generate anything consistently on offense. Lake Forest appeared to gain a break with a pass interference call on its first possession, but could not take advantage. Lake Forest has no first down at this point in the second half except by penalty. Stevenson has a pair on a 11 yard run by Foley and an 11-yard pass from Matt Micucci to Matt Morrissey.

••••

Lake Forest defense really bottling up the Patriots attack. Stevenson's Kevin Foley has 6 carries for 23 yards. Quarterback Mike Micucci is 1-for-5 for 20 yards.

The Scouts' Owen Williams has carried 10 times for 46 yards. Penalties have hurt Lake Forest during drives, and the passing game has been inconsistent. Jordan Beck looked good in the opening drive - 5-for 6 for 35 yards - but in the second quarter cooled off and finished 10-for-15, 75 yards and one interception for the half.

Second Quarter

1:00: Bo Dever gets off a 60-plus yard punt that rolls dead at the Stevenson 3-yard line. Neither team has been able to move the ball with any consistency. The Scouts have the upperhand with some movement by passing, but running back Owen Williams has less than 50 yards this half.

4:13: Stevenson's Jon Way intercepts a Jordan Beck pass and returns to the Lake Forest 31-yard line. The Patriots are unable to do anything, and in fact lose ground during possession and are forced to punt facing fourth down and 17.

8:34: After failing to move the ball, the snap sails over punter Jordan Beck'e head and he tries to throw downfield but out of play. Stevenson takes over at its own 40, but is unable to move the ball despite a 10-yard run by Kevin Foley, who has been held in check by the Scouts defense so far.

Lake Forest retains possession as first quarter ends.

First Quarter

4:00: Stevenson managed just two yards over six plays. Struggling to get going offensively. Quarterback Mike Micucci was sacked on third down by Lake Forest's Nick Keefe.

6:13: Stevenson takes over at its 25-yard line following a short kick-off return. A third down pass to Anthony Bozin is incomplete, and the Patriots are forced to punt.

6:18: Baylor Broughton hits a 40-yard field goal after Lake Forest drove from its own 20 following the kick-off. A third down pass into the end zone to Bo Dever fell incomplete. Drive took 12 plays, covered 57 yards. 3-0.
