Parent Session Focuses on Teen Drinking

Cherokee Principal Coffee for Mandarin Immersion Program moved to Oct. 28.

The Cherokee School Principal Coffee for the Mandarin Immersion Program has been changed to Oct. 28 (rescheduled from Oct. 6). The guest speaker will be Dr. Nancy Romig, senior project director for the Confucius Institute at Michigan State University. Dr. Romig will visit the Mandarin Immersion classrooms at Cherokee on Oct. 27-28, and will meet with interested parents at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 28.

As part of the Deer Path Middle School 7th/8th grade health curriculum, parents of students in those grades are invited to join in a parent session on teen drinking. The panel of four professionals includes Linda Hegg, Chris Stride, Lori Patsis, and Erik Kositzki from 7-8:15 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Deer Path Middle School Auditorium. Lori Patsis – A Northwestern University graduate with a bachelor degree in nursing. She has been raising her three kids in Lake Bluff for the past 17 years and working at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for 10 years
as a charge nurse in the ER and as the EMS coordinator for their institution. She has also been a volunteer fireman for Lake Bluff for more than 10 years.

Linda Hegg – A member of LEAD and a resident of the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff area for 30 years. She is the mother of four and a grandmother of two. Linda has a passion for speaking out against underage drinking because she lost her son to a drunk driving accident in 1997. Since then, Linda has spoken about the dangers involved with underage drinking at Lake Forest High School, Libertyville High School, Vernon Hills High School, and Marmion Academyl.

Erik Kositzki – Grew up in Lake Forest and now lives in Knollwood. Erik spent four years working in North Chicago as a fireman and paramedic before transferring to the Lake Forest Fire Department eight years ago. He also volunteers for the Knollwood Fire Department and has been the battalion chief there for 17 years.

Christopher Stride – Went to Lake Forest High School and graduated from
Valparaiso University School of Law. Since then, he has held several jobs in the law field and is now an associate judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit. As a judge his assignments have included traffic and branch court, misdemeanor and DUI, felony trial, and therapeutic intensive monitoring drug court.
