Prep Spring Preview: Lake Forest Boys Lacrosse Chases State Title

Several returnees back from last yeart's Elite 8 team.

Last Year’s Record: 9-11 

Last Year’s Highlights: The Scouts reached the Elite Eight in 2010 in state competition before falling to third seeded Stevenson. Lake Forest finished third in the North Suburban Conference. 

Top Returning Scouts: With only five players graduating from last year’s team, Lake Forest will be led by attackmen Ryan Laughlin and Sean Kelleher, midfielder Matt Sapp and defenseman Charles Cook. The play of goalies Ethan Ulmer and James Phelps will also be a key to success.

Leading Newcomers: Bringing new strength to the team will be attackman Alex Watkins, midfielder George Stamelos and defenseman Joining the team will also be the new offensive coordinator, Nick Marks.

 Season Outlook: The Scouts will be solid in their attack and defense with nearly everyone back from a year ago. The goaltending is strong as well. Gone are solid midfield performers along with senior leadership. “We will win the state title this year if we can get over the mental hurdle of beating New Trier and Loyola,” Lake Forest coach Daniel Maigler said. “The first team that can do that will open it up for everyone.”
