School of St. Mary Conducts Fund-raising Book Fair

Upper Grade Center Book Fair

The semi- annual School of Saint Mary Upper Grade Center Book Fair is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15-16, in the Multi-Purpose room. Susan Boucher, owner of the Lake Forest Book Store, is the sponsor. With the assistance of parent volunteers, under the supervision of school librarian Kathleen Strunk, students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of books ranging from the "classics" to many of the of the currently popular books and series. In addition, parents may peruse the book selections for themselves or other family members and friends for purchase as holiday gifts.  Proceeds will benefit the Upper Grade Center Library.

October was the Month of the Rosary and School of St. Mary students celebrated by gathering together as a community Oct. 4 to pray these special prayers that honor Jesus and his mother, Mary. Led by Fr. Mike McGovern, first through third grade students at the Primary Grade Center held their own rosary beads and prayed the Joyful Mysteries, which feature five happy events in Jesus’ life.

In celebration of the feast of St. Martin de Tours, the students in grades two and eight at the School of St. Mary conducted a coat drive over two weeks in October. The coats were donated to Holy Family Food Pantry in Waukegan, which is sponsored by Most Blessed Trinity, St. Mary's sister parish.
