School of St. Mary's Enrollment Surpasses 500 Students

Lake Forest school welcomes 94 new students this fall.

has more than 500 students to start the school year after 94 new students enrolled across grades preschool through eighth grade.

The Upper Grade Center on Illinois Road was the original building that housed students from kindergarten through eighth grade. However, due to increased enrollment with 264 students this fall, it is the home to only grades 4 through 8.

The Primary Grade Center, built in 1997 and located in west Lake Forest, is home to preschool students through 3rd grade totalling 267 students this fall. Together, the two schools give St. Mary's 531 students this fall.

“As Lake Forest demographics have been showing a decrease in households with elementary-aged children, we are delighted to have so many wonderful new families," said Principal Dr. Venette Biancalana.

The student body at the School of St. Mary consists of students not only from the , but also from many of the surrounding communities including Great Lakes Naval Base, , Highland Park, Highwood, Deerfield, Libertyville, Long Grove, Antioch, Lincolnshire, North Chicago, Wauconda, and Green Oaks.
