Scout Teams Earn 5 Victories

Wins come in boys' track, girls' track, volleyball, soccer and girls' lacrosse.

Boys’ Track 

April 2 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest 101, Round Lake 45

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Scotty Powell, Nick Giordano, Connor Adams and Austin McIlvane were double winners with an individual and relay victory each. Adams won the long jump, Giordano captured the 400-meter dash and McIlvane took the 200 before they teamed with Jack Blumeyer to take the 4x100 relay. Powell was victorious in the 100 before becoming a quartet with Daniel Kriss, Graham Weinberger and Charlie Moss to win the 4x200 relay. The 4x800 relay was won by Nikolas Davis, Max Foster, Michael Gulson and Frank Theodore.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Other winners were Liam Gayter (1,600), Kevin Fu (triple jump), Carson Sperry (high jump), Drew Stoll (pole vault), Jack Ellis (shot put) and Chip Lekberg (discus).

Who’s Next:   The Scouts compete at the Prospect Relays at noon Saturday. 

Volleyball 

April 3 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest defeated Warren, 25-19, 25-21. 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Sam Danneker and Sammy Watson had eight kills each while Jeff Habjan produced 15 assists.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Andrew Salzer, Jack Preschlack, Jack Duffy and Jeff Zillner chipped in with four kills while Andy Murphy had six digs and a pair of aces.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts compete in a tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday at Glenbard East. 

Girls’ Lacrosse 

April 3 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest 20, Vernon Hills 2 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Lake Forest Academy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. 

Soccer 

April 2 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest 1, Niles North 0 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Ginnie Ravenaugh had two saves in goal not letting the Vikings score.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Gabby Perino scored the lone goal with assists from Paige Bourne and Sydney Johnston.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts take on Lincoln Way North at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Pepsi Showdown in Schaumberg. 

Girls’ Track 

April 2 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest defeated Round Lake 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Diana Mzyk was the only Lake Forest individual winner with victories in the 400-meter dash and the high jump. Erin Malles took the 300 hurdles and teamed with Elise Wong, Anika Boyd and Helen Schluachtenhaufen to take the 4x400 relay.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Other individual winners were Claire Yandel (3,200), Callie Schmidt (800), Lisa Bennatan (1,600), DRachel Keller (200), Lizzy Lynch (long jump), Mary Rose Donahue (triple jump), Claire Farrell (shot put) and Bridgett Skaronea (discuss). Nina Demet, Lauren Graves, Lizzette Pink and Anke Schoettlewon the 4x800 relay; Rachel Keller, Anna Platt, Lizzy Lynch and Elizabeth Woidat won the 4x100 relay and the quartet of Katie Bertram, Maddie Martin, Woidat and Carly Schmidt were victors in the 4x200 relay.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts compete at the Metea Valley Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday. 

Softball 

April 4 

The Final Score:        Wauconda 18, Lake Forest 8 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Sarah Porter went 3 – for – 5 at the plate including a triple and scoring three times.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Kaela Whittington-Baschoff collected a hit and a pair of RBI.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Zion Benton at 4:30 p.m. Monday. 

The Bottom Line:      Five Lake Forest errors made the job harder.
