Scouts Show Success on Diamond, Track, Court and Field

Baseball and soccer teams win while boys' track and tennis squads place high in large fields.

April 27 

Baseball 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest 6, Prospect 1

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Connor Hanrahan collected a pair of hits in three at bats. Hub Cirame and Peter Gruenes both went 2 – for – 4 at the plate as Cirame drove in a run.  

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Sam Templeman drive in a pair of runs with one hit in two trips to the plate. Charlie Sullivan, Joe Beible and Luke Turelli combined for a six hitter on the mound.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts travel to Zion-Benton at 4:30 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      Lake Forest scored all of its runs in the second through fifth innings before Prospect could dent the board. 

April 26 

Boys’ Track 

The Final Score:        Lake Forest finished sixth in the 12-team field at the Spartan Relays. 

Scouts’ Star Performers:      Connor Adams, Austin McIlvane, Jack Blumeyer and Nick Giordano combined to win the 4x100 relay and place second in the shuttle sprint relay. Giordano teamed with Carson Sperry, Jamari Wesley and Henry Schwartz to earn runner up honors in the high jump relay.

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Also earning a second place finish were Kevin Fu, David Fu, Mason Woods and Cody Baker in the triple jump relay. The middle distance quartet of Scotty Powell, Graham Weinberger, Andrew Grossman and Liam Gayter placed fourth.

Who’s Next:   The Scouts travel to Libertyville at 4:30 p.m. today. 

Tennis 

Final Score:    Lake Forest finished second out of 32 teams at the Hersey Invitational. 

Scouts Star Performer:         John Zordani and Scott Christian took second place in No. 1 doubles winning their first four matches in straight sets before falling in the finals. 

Other Notable Scout Performances:            Peter Tarwid took third in No. 1 singles while Brice Polender placed fourth in No. 2 singles. 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts travel to Libertyville at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

April 25 

Soccer 

Final Score:    Lake Forest 9, Zion Benton 0 

Scouts Star Performers: The entire team. 

Who’s Next:   The Scouts entertain Loyola Academy at 6:15 p.m. today. 

The Bottom Line:      Coach Ty Stuckslager gave the whole team the Squidward award after contributions from so many Scouts. They are now 5-1-5 for the season.
