Search Proceeds for New Elementary School Principal

Middle School will undergo summer renovations.

Retailers in downtown Lake Bluff will showcase the works of Lake Bluff students from both District 65 and high school District 115.  Projects on display will cover art, social studies, language arts, science, math and foreign language. Pick up passports at any participating retailer, bank or restaurant and take a look at the amazing things students are doing everyday in the classroom.  Passports can be stamped at each location and, once filled, drop it into the bin at the Lake Bluff Library.  A drawing will be held in early April to win a variety of prizes that have been donated by the merchants. This is a collaborative effort between the schools and the Chamber of Commerce.

Spring will bring big changes to the East School campus at the corner of Vincent Court and East Sheridan Place. The building, which has been empty since the District Office moved out in October 2010, is currently going through preparations for demolition in April.  This comes at the conclusion of several years of planning and decision-making from two groups, the East School Taskforce and the Facilities Action Team, both made up of community members, parents, administration and school board members. Planning is still underway for the front archway of the school to be saved for relocation on the green space. The mural has been removed and stored for future relocation by the Chicago Conservation Center, the same organization who completed its restoration. It is estimated that the demolition of the building will save the taxpayers between $50,000 and $100,000 per year while providing the Middle School with much needed athletic and play fields. An informal Open House is planned at East School from 1-3 p.m. March 20.
